International trainees and apprentices face many challenges in the first few months - from finding accommodation to settling into a new culture. As a host family, you not only offer a home, but also valuable support in everyday life.
As an accompanying person, you support an international trainee at the start in Germany - on a personal, organizational and practical level.
Your tasks may include the following areas:
Host families make a valuable contribution to society - and benefit from unique experiences at the same time.
Experience a new culture right in your own home.
Practice a foreign language yourself or help with learning German.
The trainee contributes to the housing costs and can, for example, take the dog for a walk, etc.
They arrive in a foreign country - without a network, without familiar faces. This is exactly what many international trainees experience during their first few days in Germany.
As a host family, you are giving much more than just a room:
They provide orientation, security and a warm start to a new life. Their support eases bureaucratic hurdles, promotes a quick arrival - and enables genuine integration.
At the same time, you also enrich your own life:
through personal exchange, new perspectives and valuable intercultural encounters.
Becoming a host family is easier than you think! We will guide you through the entire process so that you are well prepared and have an enriching experience.
Fill in our Online form or contact us directly. Here we will clarify whether the room intended for the trainee is suitable or whether we need to make any changes. You can already provide initial information in the form, e.g. how many euros you would like to contribute to the guest's accommodation costs and whether you would also like to look after them in the initial period.
As soon as we have a potential trainee in your area, we will arrange a video interview between you and the young person. If it suits both parties, the next step is the relocation to Germany.
This is where the application for the entry permit is submitted and the move to Germany is prepared.
The trainee arrives in Germany! They move in and you help them settle in. You will receive a checklist with helpful tips for welcoming your guest.
Ideally about 2 years, but a shorter duration would also be possible.
You can contribute to your guest's expenses, such as rent, to an acceptable extent. Further reimbursements, e.g. for travel, are possible.
No, but you can accompany and support them.
No, just openness and a willingness to help.
